TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Top Iraqi political figure Abdul-Aziz Hakim said that Iran-U.S. talks on Iraq security would be launched in the near future in Baghdad.

Head of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) and the Shia Unified Iraqi Coalition Abdul-Aziz Hakim told FARS news agency on Wednesday, ""During the first round of talks, it was agreed that next round would be held within a month."" ""However, that did not happen and the meeting was delayed due to the U.S. harsh stance and recurrent allegations by American officials against the Islamic Republic,"" said Hakim, who is currently in Tehran for cancer treatment. Both Tehran and Washington have agreed to hold the second round of talks in Baghdad. Iranian officials have discussed restoration of security to Iraq as well as upcoming talks with the U.S. on the situation in Iraq in their meetings with Hakim, said the news agency.
